This garden was initially a typical tropical garden but over the last 20 years the Kochs have transitioned the garden to an indigenous haven.
The garden has some established trees and as such has a mixture of shady and sunny beds. The garden with its breathtaking views is a joy to behold but more importantly it is a welcome sanctuary for so many little creatures. It is an an oasis for birds and butterflies and provides resting, nesting, feeding and breeding for many little creatures.

Placemaking Performance
Intervention at a garden level has restored ecosystems. The garden has functioned with the client's growing organic food, utilising permaculture techniques, several bee hives and indigenous planting. The garden attracts an array of wildlife (40 species of birds and numerous butterflies) to the home because of interventions such as the natural swimming pool.

Some simple guidelines to help you enjoy the gardens
We hope these guidelines improve your experience on the day.

-
Wear sensible shoes – there are areas with cobblestone paving, gravel, wooden decks or slopes!
-
There are many interesting/unusual trees to see so bring along a tree book.
-
Take a pair of binoculars if you are interested in birds – gardens create habitats which are ideal for birds.
-
Plan your comfort breaks – there are limited toilet facilities.
-
You are going to be in the sun – wear sunscreen and a hat.
-
The gardens are “open” but the homes are not – please do respect the owners privacy and do not wander through private spaces.
-
Please do not bring any animals (NO PETS) to the gardens.
-
The gardeners are all very knowledgeable – do feel free to engage with them as they are more than willing to share their knowledge.
Please be considerate and move on after a while so that others can enjoy the area.
INDEMNITY
